ModuleWorks have strengthened their long-standing partnership with the introduction of a suite of advanced toolpath optimisation technologies integrated directly into the NX CAM environment, helping manufacturers improve machining efficiency, productivity and process reliability.
The collaboration brings together Siemens' NX CAM software and ModuleWorks' physics-based machining technologies, providing manufacturers with enhanced capabilities for process optimisation while supporting the wider adoption of digital manufacturing workflows.
Available as plugins for NX CAM, which forms part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the new technologies are designed to deliver a seamless user experience while enabling the flow of manufacturing data across design, programming and production environments.
The integrated portfolio includes VoluMill, a science-based roughing solution developed to achieve faster cycle times, increased material removal rates and longer tool life across a wide range of materials. Also included is VoluTurn, an automated turning technology that reduces the need for manual CAD programming while helping minimise insert wear and prevent tool over-engagement.
The package is further enhanced by FeedControl, a universal toolpath optimisation solution that uses physics-based simulation to adjust feed rates according to material properties and machine characteristics. The aim is to help manufacturers achieve expert-level machining performance while maintaining consistent cutting conditions.
Completing the suite is the MDES Exporter, which automatically generates standardised tooling, fixture and part data from Siemens NX. This enables smoother integration with simulation platforms, collision avoidance systems and wider digital manufacturing workflows through the Manufacturing Data Exchange Specification (MDES).
According to the companies, integrating these technologies within NX CAM can deliver measurable benefits for manufacturers, including shorter cycle times through optimised toolpaths and feed rates, improved tool life, simplified programming workflows and faster implementation of digital thread strategies across manufacturing operations. The solutions are also installed locally, allowing companies to maintain data security within their existing network infrastructure.
