Hufschmied, a manufacturer of material- and process-optimised cutting tools, will be exhibiting at the AMB in Stuttgart from September 15 to 19, 2026. At Booth 3D64 in Hall 3 of the international metalworking exhibition. The focus this time will be on the production of EDM electrodes and high-precision embossing dies.
Many companies that manufacture graphite electrodes are already benefiting from the specialised roughing and finishing tool, the Graftor. At AMB, Hufschmied is now unveiling another graphite machining tool for the first time: the high-feed finishing tool, the Hexator. It features a process-optimised cutting geometry and a diamond coating that produces outstanding surface finishes on graphite. The tool, with its “lollipop” geometry, really shows its strengths when machining 90° wall surfaces.
Also at the trade show – under the name Bumble-Bi – Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme the company will introduce a family of micro-machining tools that includes high-feed roughing tools as well as ball-end and torus tools for roughing and finishing operations.
The name is derived from the application for which the tools were originally developed: the machining of stamping dies for the cost-effective production of bipolar plates for fuel cells. The successful mass production of bipolar plate stacks depends on these stamping dies, which must have burr-free surfaces with a flatness of < 20μm. The Bumble-Bi tools enable machining strategies with very high cutting pressure and are also suitable for any other comparable micro-machining tasks.
