The S141 from Fritz Studer AG (
www.studer.com) has been designed for grinding spindle shafts, spindle housings and rotor shafts, for example; and while short workpieces can be clamped in a chuck, the machine is primarily for workpieces up to 1,300mm long (with the use of an additional steady rest).
The maximum internal grinding length is 250mm (the external grinding length is 150mm), the swing diameter above the table is 400mm, and the maximum workpiece weight 250kg.
Other machine features include: linear drives for all the axes; the manufacturer’s patented StuderGuide guide-way system for fast, high-precision axis movements; automatic swivelling of the workpiece table for parallel grinding, as well as the grinding of tapers; up to two dressing stations; and specially developed grinding software.
Furthermore, a Granitan machine bed offers high levels of damping characteristics, while the grinding spindle turret has a direct drive and accommodates up to four grinding spindles (including a maximum of two external grinding spindles). There is also an integrated axial/radial measuring probe.
