The development of GCX Linear is the response of
Anca to the growing success of skiving and the resulting increase in demand for skiving tools.
A five-axis CNC grinding machine with LinX linear motor technology for the X, Y and Z axes, this machine has features designed specifically for producing these tools.
For example, the GCX Linear features a patent-pending motor temperature control (MTC) that minimises machine warm-up time and delivers optimal thermal stability during grinding.
MTC is built into the motor spindle drive firmware and features a ‘smart’ control algorithm that manages and maintains the temperature of motorised spindles over time — regardless of changes in spindle load or speed, or spindle cooling coolant temperature, greatly improving dimensional stability of ground parts.
Also featured are: full process virtualisation before grinding; in-process dressing with acoustic emission monitoring system and ‘supervised machine learning algorithm’; a dedicated gear-cutting tool software package; a 37kW (peak power) direct-drive spindle with BigPlus arbor; and a headstock that has been designed to offer a high level of indexing accuracy.
Anca’s LinX linear motor technology, which in conjunction with linear scales achieves high levels of precision and performance, has been designed to conform to IP67 and achieve a long operating life in harsh grinding environments.
Moreover, because LinX motors have a cylindrical magnetic field, there is no additional down force on the rails or machine base; they also offer high levels of axis speed and acceleration while maintaining a smooth axis motion.
