Two new tooling solutions from KyoceraWith the new KPK series and the MFWN Mini series, Staffordshire-based Kyocera Unimerco Tooling Ltd has added two new products to its established tooling lines.

The KPK series is designed for high-performance parting-off solutions and features a strong clamping mechanism for optimum safety and security, while the MFWN Mini is a smaller version of the original MFWN cutters and is configured to also offer ‘excellent performance and tool life’.

Designed to eliminate problems associated with chatter and ‘chipping issues’, KPK series cutters feature a new insert, blade and a ‘tool block’ configured for ‘rigid, safe and speedy parting-off operations’ on a range of materials that include steel, stainless steel, cast iron and aluminium. Inserts are secured via three contact surfaces; and being readily replaced minimises downtime. An internal coolant supply helps maximise tool life, even with standard pressures.

Meanwhile, the MFWN Mini is a low-cutting-force 90deg milling cutter with double-sided six-edge inserts that is offered with smaller diameters than the original MFWN milling cutters yet accommodates depths of cut up to 5mm when machining a range of materials that includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron and ‘exotic materials’.

The inserts are available with three designs of chip-breaker and four grades.
