On 14 and 17 April, the Chinese laser machine manufacturer
Penta Laser — represented in the UK by Rugby-based Penta Laser UK Ltd, which was formed last year following an agreement between Penta Lasers and the
MSS Group — held Open Days at its Linyi and Wenzhou factories respectively.
The theme of the events was Efficient Laser Technology Promotes the Development of New Productivity and allowed customers to experience the ‘Penta Laser Intelligent Manufacturing Factory’ and a variety of complete solutions in different fields, including sheet cutting, tube cutting, welding, and automation. The two events were attended by some 400 customers, and more than 100 of them made serious product enquiries; a large number also signed contracts to order products.
Penta Laser said: “We have proven our value with our keen innovation and technical strength, and after the factory tours there were multiple presentations on new products. Penta Laser has been riding high on the journey of the ‘10kW fibre laser era’, constantly evolving the performance, power, speed and quality of laser cutting equipment and making many new technological and application breakthroughs. From 10kW cutting 10mm thin plates, to 20kW cutting 30mm medium-thick plates, to 60kW cutting extra-thick plates over 100mm, Penta Laser has achieved continuous leaps in power improvement.
“In 2022, Penta Laser won a large purchase order from BYD, and dozens of three-dimensional five-axis laser cutting machines were successfully installed in the company’s automotive battery integration production line. In 2023, Penta Laser won the first prize of Zhejiang Province Science and Technology Progress Award for Laser Efficient Precision Processing Technology and Equipment of Complex Components.”
Excellent performance parametersRecently introduced by Penta Laser is the WPC series of laser pipe-cutting machines for heavy-duty applications. The worktable travel can reach 9,000-12,000mm, the repeatability of the linear axis position is ±0.03mm, the maximum speed of the linear axis is 72m/min, and the maximum speed of the rotary axis is 75rev/min. The repeatability of the rotation axis position is ±8arcmin. These excellent performance parameters ensure high precision and efficiency in the cutting process.
These machines have a wide range of applications, as the pipe diameters that can be cut are from 20 to 350mm; for square sections the range is 20 x 20 to 350 x 350mm. Moreover, the machine can be equipped with a bevel-cutting function; it also offers ‘an excellent load capacity and loading system’.
Penta Laser concluded: “Using customised large-diameter and high-loading side hanging clamps, the maximum load capacity can reach 1.2 tonnes. It is also equipped with a standard semi-automatic loading system that ensures the centred loading of pipes through clamps with a large clamping force, as well as servo-controlled floating supports and floating supports to support the loading and unloading process. Laser powers ranging from 3,000-6,000W can be specified.”
