EMCO introduces the powerful new UMILL 1000Developed through the combined expertise of EMCO’s Italian subsidiaries — EMCO, EMCO MECOF and EMCO FAMUP — the powerful EMCO UMILL 1000 is a high-performance universal five-axis CNC machining centre that builds on the proven capabilities of the UMILL 750, offering a logical evolution in universal machining. Founded in 1947 in Austria, EMCO has grown into a global brand known for its innovation, quality, and comprehensive training solutions.

Designed to meet growing market demands for productivity, flexibility and automation readiness, the UMILL 1000 features a rigid portal structure made from cast iron and welded steel, ensuring thermal stability and enabling both milling and turning operations in a single setup. Equipped with 55mm roller guides on the X and Y axes, direct drives on the linear axes, and torque drives on the A and C axes, the machining centre delivers high-precision machining even on complex components. X/Y/Z travels of 900 x 1,000 x 700mm, combined with a generous A-axis swivel range of ±125deg and a load capacity of up to 1,000kg, make it suitable for a variety of demanding applications.

The motor spindle, rated at 15,000rev/min, delivers a maximum torque of 138Nm and 38kW of power. Supplied as standard with HSK-A63, it ensures efficient material removal and excellent surface finish. The tool magazine offers 30 positions as standard, expandable to 60 or 90 stations, with quick-change and random management for reduced cycle times and extended autonomy. Additional magazine configurations are available on request.

Ergonomic layout

Despite its large working envelope, the UMILL 1000 maintains a compact, modular design, capable of handling components up to 1,000mm in diameter, 600mm in height and 1,000kg in weight — all within a single clamping. Its ergonomic layout and wide range of customisation options support seamless automation integration, efficient chip management and simplified maintenance, making it ideal for high-throughput environments.

Precision is further enhanced by glass scales on the linear axes and direct position measuring systems on the rotary axes. Direct drives in X and Y enable acceleration rates of 6 m/s2 and feed speeds of 50m/min, ensuring dynamic performance and tight tolerances.

Control options include the Siemens Sinumerik One and Heidenhain TNC7, both mounted on a forward-tilting, swivelling panel designed for operator comfort. As with all EMCO machines, the UMILL 1000 is developed and manufactured entirely in Europe, using components from leading European suppliers to ensure long-term reliability and high-quality standards.

Targeted at workshops and production departments focused on high-value machining — including mould and tool making, general engineering, automotive and precision supply — the UMILL 1000 is engineered for environments where productivity, precision and versatility are non-negotiable.
