Faro releases CAM2 2019 metrology softwareRugby-based 3-D measurement and imaging solutions company Faro (www.faro.com) has announced the latest release of its metrology software platform.

Based on extensive feedback, CAM2 2019 has been designed to enable users of the company’s metrology hardware products to achieve “the highest level of measurement performance across a wide variety of manufacturing industries”.

These products include the recently introduced Faro Prizm Colour Laser Line probe and the 6Probe Laser Tracker product families.

In addition to the ‘tight integration’ with Faro metrology products, CAM2 2019 has been designed to enhance “user interactivity and usability”.

For example, 6Probe users can now program button configurations and then interact with the software through the device in real time, while users of Faro Laser Line probe can benefit from immediate visual feedback of part quality via live ‘deviation’ colour scans.

Moreover, with the company’s built-in universal CAD importer, all major CAD file formats can be directly imported into CAM2, eliminating the need for time-consuming ‘double translations’.

Also featured in CAM2 2019 is a standard set of software routines that automatically guide the user through specific operations, both visually and audibly, thereby ‘lowering the bar’ for the level of technical expertise required to use Faro 3-D measurement solutions.

In addition, pre-set ‘scanning profiles’ further streamline the ‘end to end’ process by enabling users to “select the appropriate scan setting for the specific part type with the click of a button”.

The previous version of CAM2 featured the Repeat Part Management ‘control centre’, an integrated Web-based dashboard reporting tool that delivers user-friendly real-time inspection results and trend analysis.

CAM2 2019 has enhanced this function with statistically based graphs and results for trend analysis and predictive alerts; these not only indicate that the measurement target is trending beyond tolerances but also provide ‘advanced intelligence’ as to why the situation is occurring.
